The Patchwork Quilt
A fantastic tale of wonder and magic, featuring enchanting shadow puppetry, a ‘crankie theatre’ with moving scenery, storytelling and sparkling live music.
Far away in the snowy North country, young Nils lives with his clever Granny. She is making him a gift - a magical patchwork quilt. It is nearly finished…when suddenly it disappears…
Wild weather, magic spells, and twelve very clever camels all play their part…but will Nils get his quilt back in time for his special day?

The Crankie Forest is an exhibition of crankie art curated by Bronia Evers and Peter Stevenson. It will run throughout the Smethwick Puppetry Festival in Birmingham from 14th -20th Febriuary 2026. Come along and immerse yourself in this wonderful art form. Alongside the exhibition there will be live performances - more details coming soon.

The Enormous Turnip will be performed at Awen Cultural Trust, Maesteg Town Hall, south Wales on 28th October at 11:45am and 1:45pm as part of their half term family programme.
